I developed a fetish in Guatemala for sleeping with my ears carefully covered by some of my plentiful hair to keep the mosquitoes from biting me there. It's been years, but I still carefully arrange my hair over my ears before sleeping. Some habits just stick. The cockroach is almost as bad as last night's dream about opening our back sliding door onto the deck (regularly frequented by raccoons, squirrels, and possums) to see what was eating our cat's food, and having this swarm of mice dash inside, climb all over me (biting as they went) and then disperse through the house. Yuck. I don't usually object to mice, but under the circumstances...
